Getaways for people with a mental illness
Our fantastic getaways provide an affordable and accessible break of three to four days for people with a psychiatric disability. Getaways are a MIFQ initiative with backing from Disability Services.
There are four getaways a year, each with a theme. Depending on the destination, around 15-20 individuals join a getaway group including participants, volunteers and a qualified clinician. Every getaway includes structured activities such as community access, recreation and skill development.
All accommodation, meals and activities are included in the getaway program and a fee is payable as a contribution to costs.
Eligibility
- Cost is between $50 and $65.50 per person depending on the getaway and participant’s membership status.
- Each participant is only permitted to attend one getaway per year

Getaways 2010
