Independent Living

Independent Living in the Community

Independent living within your own community is a long term goal of many people with a mental illness.

MIFQ runs a range of programs aimed at supporting people with a mental illness to have self-determination in the way they live their own lives as part of a broader community.

Among the programs we run are -

  • Harmony Support Services, which helps people living with a mental illness on the Gold Coast to develop essential skills to live independently.
  • Personal Helpers and Mentors, provides one-on-one matching between people with a mental illness and individual supporter to develop long term goals and strategies to stick to them.
  • Day to Day Living in the Community. This programs provides social and recreational activity options to people with a mental illness living around Gladstone to reduce feelings of social isolation.
  • Federation Hub House, which is a rehabilitation program for people with a mental illness around Southport and provides support across a range of living skills and services.
