Information and Advocacy
We are a member of Mi Networks. Mi Networks is our promise that we can help connect you to information and services that you need. From the moment you walk in the door or pick up the phone, we will welcome you. We will listen and discuss your needs. We can provide relevant and up-to-date information and if we don’t have it on hand, we will work with you to find it. We can link you to one of our individual or group support programs, or refer you to another organisation which best meets your needs.
Mi Networks promises that you can expect this level of personalised service at every location in the national network.
At MIFQ, we are member of a national body, the Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia (MIFA), which has a vital advocacy role in Canberra on behalf of its members in states and territories. MIFA is committed to ensuring that all Australians affected by mental illness receive adequate services and that policy and legislation address their needs.
At a state level, we are also aligned with Queensland Alliance for Mental Health Inc. the peak body for the mental health community sector, which advises the Queensland government on behalf of people with mental illness and their carers.
We advocate on behalf of people living with mental illness through our newsletter, website and social media, and we raise awareness of their perspective in the general community through promotional events, speaking engagements and presentations.
