Mental Health First Aid

Being aware of what to do in a crisis or when someone is developing a mental health problem can be a huge benefit to everyone involved. Mental health first aid is the help given until professional help is received or the crisis resolved. We run two programs with mental health professionals teaching skills in mental health first aid.

Standard Mental Health First Aid covers the most common disorders such as depression, anxiety, psychotic disorders and alcohol and drug problems.

Youth Mental Health First Aid
is for adults who live or work with young people. This course also addresses self-harm and eating disorders.

Both courses cover the development of a 5-step action plan for mental health first aid, managing suicide, panic attacks, psychotic behaviour and general communication skills.

To find out more about these courses, contact our Education and Training Manager on 4725 3664, free call 1800 455 455  or email training@mifnq.org.au.
