Peer Work Project
All our programs at MIFSA benefit from the guidance of people living with mental illness. The Peer Work Project is a collaborative project between MIFSA and Baptist Care (SA) and has developed an efficient and coordinated process for the recruitment, training, supervision and support of Peer Workers in South Australia.
Peer Workers are people who have experienced mental illness and are living well. They are trained to work in the public mental health service, non-government organisations or wider sector to support and guide their peers and foster hope.
The Peer Work Project also works with organisations to assist with the employment of Peer Workers, including information sessions, insight into job and person specifications and on-the-job support.
The Peer Work Project can also provide sessional workers with the lived experience for interview panels, public speaking events or forums.
