About the RNA Fundraising Project
The Fellowship began fundraising at the Royal Queensland Show in 1986 selling Royal tea and coffee. Life member of the Fellowship, Sonya Watts, was the organiser of this event and coordinated 42 volunteers to run the stall. This fundraiser continued for four years, when in 1989 the RNA offered the Fellowship the opportunity to conduct the Cloak Room Project. This project required significantly more resources, staff and volunteers, however, it provided more than double the profit.
Since its beginning, the Cloak Room has always been the Fellowship's largest annual fundraising event. Each August when the event rolls around, the Fellowship relies heavily on the assistance of up to 100 valuable volunteers to make this event an overwhelming success. Sadly in 2010, the Cloak Room Project came to an end due to the refurbishment project at the RNA Showgrounds.
In 2011, the Fellowship has been very lucky to be offered the opportunity to continue our fundraising efforts at the annual show. This year we will be assisting the RNA with their newly installed lockers, providing helpful and friendly customer service to Ekka visitors.
