About Tekapo Supported Accommodation Service
Tekapo Accommodation Support Service is a non-clinical support service. It combines both short to medium term shared accommodation and one on one community support. Individuals are supported to identify areas within their lives that they need support to work towards obtaining their own housing in the community. The focus of Tekapo Accommodation Support Service is to focus on the skills required to obtain and maintain independent accommodation in the community.
 
How can Tekapo Supported Accommodation Service help you
This program is supported by dedicated employees who are trained using a strengths-base recovery framework. 
 
Individuals engaged in this services are supported to build their personal, natural and community resources, to ensure they are able to transition to independent living in their community. They are provided with a range of support opportunities, including budgeting, shopping independently, integration into community based groups and expanding social networks as well as guidance to help develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  
 
Referrals to Tekapo Supported Accommodation Service
To be eligible for the Tekapo Accommodation and Support Service, individuals must be diagnosed with a psychiatric disability, be over 18 years of age, require recovery based lifestyle support to develop their independence and social networks, resides within the Gold Coast regions and is registered with the Department of Housing Qld. 
 
Referrals are accepted from individuals, families, friends, government departments, medical professionals, and community-based organisations.
 
Once accepted in the Tekapo Accommodation and Support Service, program participants sign a 3 month lease with Gold Coast Housing Company via Centrepay at a rate of 25% of their total income.  Other costs associated with the Tekapo Support Service are $100 per fortnight for food, $50 per fortnight for levies and an initial cleaning fee of $70.  The cleaning fee is a bond and can be paid in instalments fortnightly.  This is refunded if the program participant's room is clean and tidy and all furniture is in good condition when they exit the program.
 
How Tekapo Supported Accommodation Service is funded
This program is funded by the Department of Communities.
