Well Ways for Consumers

About Well Ways MI Recovery
MI Recovery is a peer-education program that addresses the complex issues faced by people living with mental illness. The program draws on practical wisdom and lived experience of mental illness, as well as up-to-date research on mental illness and recovery.

How can Well Ways MI Recovery help you
The delivery of the program to individuals living with a mental illness in the community, provides access to educational materials. These materials not only provide support to the individual throughout the program but offer a platform for the development of skills and abilities for the individual to continue to grow and develop their resilience, self-mastery and sense of self.

This program also provides:

  • Information that can help you to manage your mental illness including how to cope with medication, getting back into work or study, dealing with stigma, recognising triggers and early warning signs, and planning to prevent relapse.
  • Social opportunities and the chance to meet others on a similar journey
  • Communication skills such as active listening, communicating clearly, being assertive with experts, and managing important relationships
  • Personal change. The program is a journey of self-discovery that will focus on your abilities, interests and goals.

This program runs over eight weeks, with weekly 2.5-hour sessions and is facilitated by trained facilitators who have experienced mental illness. Groups are limited to 12 participants.
