Well Ways Suite of Programs
MIFNQ are excited to be able to offer the Well Ways Suite of Programs for family members and carers of people with a mental illness. Well Ways can help people to understand more about the mental illness affecting their loved one and increase their ability to face the challenges ahead.
Structured workshops with videos and practical demonstrations are lead by experienced carers of people with mental illness who have been selected and trained by Mental Illness Fellowship NQ Inc.
Free counselling and respite are also available for family members.

There are three programs in the Well Ways Suite:
- Well Ways Building a Future
This is a 12 month program with eight 3-hourly workshops held over consecutive weeks followed by four advanced workshops held every couple of months.The program delivers up-to-date information about mental illness, medication, and the mental health system and carer support system.

5 April - 24 May
19 July - 6 September
1 November - 20 December - Well Ways DUO
Duo is specifically for families and friends of people with a mental illness and co-existing substance use (dual diagnosis). It consists of six 3-hourly weekly group sessions, providing up to date information about the interaction between the mental illnesses and drugs and alcohol.It aims to increase the skills of families in managing extremely challenging behaviours that are often associated with a dual diagnosis.

20 September - 25 October - Well Ways Snapshot
Snapshot is a one-day program (two 3½-hourly sessions) for families and carers of people with a mental illness. It offers a simple framework to assist participants to understand the causes and recovery paths from mental illness and to share personal experiences. Someone recovering from a mental illness also presents his or her story in a structured, helpful way.It is hoped participants move on to the other Well Ways programs for more detailed information and support.
